For those of you who think TP has nothing to do with the spaceworld 2000 demo

Note Ganondorf's sword.

It's not identical by any means but it's pretty similar.

Someone decided it was to cool to throw away so they put it here and in the ending screen if Ganon wins in Smash Bros Melee.

Zelda Spaceworld was nothing more than a Revamps Demo battle of OoT Link vs Ganondorf, to show off the GameCube Hardware. Companies do this all the time. Like the FF64 Tech demo. The FFVII ps3 tech demo. They Serve no purpose but to show the graphical capabilities of the system.

thankyou for not reading the post. I just said they saved the sword from the demo.

Also got a link to the Video of the OoT sword fight?

Although technicly FF64 WAS going to be a project but was cancelled a few months in.

I read the post, but I see no relavence towards the sword besides the Smash Bros.
And FF64 was just a techdemo. Square was already in bad terms with Nintendo on their Cartridge and development cost issues. So the idea was Scrapped and started over on PS1. FF64 was a techdemo of a fight in FFVI in 64 graphics.

I am aware of what a tech demo is. The relevance is that a sword used in that tech demo that otherwise had no prior existance in Zelda, rather then being discarded entirely, was used in Smash Bros and later revamped for TP.

Square had already put 3 to 6 months of development into FF64 but ended up scrapping it for those reasons you mentioned and using those ideas towards FF7 (although the charcters where from FF6 my fave 2d final fantasy, i love the opera scene). Square would not have made a tech demo to hype a system they had no intentions on.

Sometimes Tech Demos become real games, sometimes they are discarded, sometimes they are discarded but the 3d models are saved and used later.

Not entirely, becuase FFSGI was not created using a Dev kit. Neither did it ever run on 64 hardware. The techdemo alone revealed that the attacks were done using the movement of a computer mouse. a techdemo like that wouldnt take long to make since it was a simple battle and summon.

But Why make a tech demo for someone you don't plan on ever working with? At the time it was made it seems they were planning, but needless to say that fell through. Much like Spaceworld 2000. Miyamoto began making a realistic Zelda with that graphicsal style but felt it wasn't fresh enough so he made Aounuma scrap it and start WW. Even though TP is different and a fresh start, some inspiration seems to have slipped (the swoprd re occured)

The style of the FF64 demo was pretty much the earlier predecessor of 3d final fantasy.

I'm not saying they are identical or even fully derivitive. Just that the same ideas were used in later incarnations. Not for Plot or characters but for graphics and styles.

Niether FF7 or Twilight Princess exist in a creative vaccuum of their previous scarpped work. Hell even the new Starfox DS game is VERY similar to the scrapped Starfox 2 for SNES. Identical? no, Derivitive? maybe, a lot more obvious then this simply saving a sword or a 3d rpg system, but still some things carry over.

It's an easter egg is all.

Tech demos are just made to show off the hardware. They are never games to begin with. Techdemos normally show past games in a new light. FF64 = FFVI, Zelda Spaceworld = OoT, FFVII tech demo = FFVII. And starfox 2 was released in a beta form, had some good music, I know 'cause I previously owned the rom.

It has everything to do with it...
Zelda TP was what they wanted to do with GCN but at the time they didn't think the GCN could handle it so they made Wind Waker. Then the Gcn's graphics got better... better enough to handle it. And it took 4ever to make it then the made it for Wii as well. Thats how it went.

The GC was always capable of TP-like graphics. But Nintendo admitted that the Techdemo was just that. But the reason they went with the Wind Waker style was becuase they wanted to shed a new light on zelda. Some people dont know this, but TP was made using a slightly modified WW engine.
