I went through it twice and I don't remember him in there. Maybe I've just forgotten already.

he's on the side if you look back up you'll see him he isn't blocking the way he's on the very edge of the side.

After I beat the Cave of Ordeals a 2nd time, I talked to the postman and he said: "You must be lost, it must be around here somewhere..." If anyone knows what he's talking about, post it up here

You searched for an older thread before making your own! Praise the lord.
I think the appearance in the Cave of Ordeals is meant to show how incompetent he is as he could find himself at the bottom of the beastly Cave while trying to deliver a letter. His Mr Magoo-style oblivion to the dangers of the cave make him out to be a bit of a dope.
