A couple o' questions

Ok I've got a dilemma fellas. I'm dying to get Metal Gear Solid 4. Trouble is, I don't have a PS3. I was trying to convince my bro to go halves with me on one but we both decided it would be stupid because we both don't care for any other games on the PS3. I'm dying to play it. I am even considering calling a truce with a sworn enemy of mine just because they happen to have a PS3. So onto the questions.

1. Can I rent out a PS3 console? If so, when, where and how much is it? I have done this in the past at a mom and pop video place that no longer exists. I will call and ask around tomorrow to make sure though.

2. My only other option is to use my soon-to-be brother in law's PS3. Ironically, I think I may buy him Metal Gear Solid 4 for his birthday later this month. He lives in England but he's coming over to the US in two months. I haven't had the time to ask him so this question goes out to the english brothers on here, will a PAL region PS3 work here in the US? What kind of converter would I need if any? I know they say the PS3 games are region free but I have no clue about the console.

and yes, you're going to need a converter. I couldn't tell the specific type that you'll need, seeing that I'm not familiar with how much volts/Hz/watts is required to power a PS3. Unfortunately, I forgot about this little detail when I went to London/Paris; I ended up going so long without a flat iron (so materialistic). My suggestion would be look the technical specifications of the PS3 to see how many volts/Hz/watts are needed to power the thing. I think that you'd be best if you looked around for a converter first before investing in one, as the prices do vary from place to place, as almost anything does these days. And too, make sure that the converter is capable of handling the amount of volts/Hz/watts the PS3 requires.

hope I helped you out..

I was hoping it was region free. Haha hey I understand you Kate, I have a british flat iron with a converter and all so I can't judge you. Thanks for the thorough answer.

Depends on your telly, and if it can display a PAL picture (Americans use NTSC and they don't mix).

Ok it's like this. The PS3 has a voltage converter inbuilt in it, so don't worry about that. You would need a different power cord, but you could find one lying around your house, as most computers use this cable. Other than the cable, it should all work fine. If you have a windows computer, then your screen probably uses the cable that PS3's use. Go here to see what one looks like.

POWER CABLE / LEAD ---- for Playstation 3 (PS3) - eBay Cables, Accessories, Sony PlayStation 3, Video Games. (end time 08-Jun-08 12:21:55 AEST)

I hoped I helped in some way

I called around and no one rents them out anymore, they say it's so '97. So I'm going to have to use my bro in law's.

Mental: I have no idea. I'll have him check on that.

Sambo: Good, that's all I need then. I shall buy one this week.

Thanks

You can go to www.codejunkies.com

Ok never mind I just found out the codejunkies doesn't have a freeloader for PS3 yet. They may come out with one later but right now they don't have it. I found some info on the PS3 though that might help. If I'm better of buying a Japanese PS3? Yes or No? - Yahoo! Answers
