Howdy there, I am Zack, and I am a Legend of Zelda historian. I am here to inform you of the timeline of the LoZ series, so you can brag about it to your nerdy friends (if any ). Anyway, I should get started.

-0- Before Hyrule Reckoning

> Three goddesses create Hyrule.
> The sages create three realms, the Golden Realm, the Darkness Realm, and the Twilight Realm.
> The Triforce is created.

-1- Ocarina of Time
Link, a young child of the Kokiri village is to meet the Great Deku Tree, because he feels Link is the "Chosen One". Though, he had been having nightmares of a man on a horse about to stamp on him. The boy enters the tree and fights off hourds of bugs and monsters. After killing the bug leader, he learns that the Great Deku Tree will die. It explains how a beast names Gannondorf poisoned him, and that Link must save Hyrule. So, he sets off to find two other stones. On his way to draw the Master Sword, he sees Princess Zelda fleeing, and Gannondorf after her. Link draws the blade, but something happened.

He awakes to find he is a 17 year-old warrior of Hyrule. A sage tells him he could not defend Hyrule as a child, so them allowed him to slumber for 7 years. Hyrule had become a hellhole from Gannondorf. After freeing other sages, he duels Gannondorf in the former Hyrule Castle. Link defeats Gannondorf, and escapes the falling castle. At the bottom, the Triforce of Power activates, making the King of Darkness, Gannon. With Zelda's help, Gannon is sealed in the Golden Realm forever... or so they hoped.

After the huge battle with Gannon, Link leaves Hyrule in search of...

Alternate Beginnings!

Is is a ongoing battle whether Link left Hyrule to find Skull Kid (the good one), whom he played his Ocarina with as a childhood friend, or Navi who may have ran away. It's your choice.

He intrusted Zelda with his Triforce of Courage now that Hyrule was safe. While riding his horse, Epona, in a strange forest, two fairies startle Epona, knocking Link off. He was stunned. From behind a tree, Skull Kid appeared wearing a strange mask. He raided Link, and took his Ocarina of Time. Link woke up, and Skull Kid hopped on his horse. Link grabbed on, being dragged against the ground. He eventually fell off, and followed on foot. He confronts the Skull Kid, and using dark magics, Link was turned into a Deku Scrub. Skull Kid and one of his fairies escaped while the other one began pouncing on Link. After being abandoned, she teams up with Link to stop Skull Kid. In the search, the two fall down a giant rabbit-hole, but little did they know, it led to an alternate dimension.

At the bottom, they were inside a clock tower. As they hed for the door, a strange man stops them. He says that Skull Kid is under the influence of Majora's Mask, and that he needed it back. He tells them that he only had three days in Clock Town, and that he must leave the land known as Termina after that. He calls himself the Happy Mask Salesman. Using the power of masks, Link overcame tons of challenges, and saved Termina. He saw many fimilar faces, but they didn't know him. It was because Termina was Hyrule's counterpart, an alternate reality. Here, I've been asked a million times this: since everyone else had a counterpart, shouldn't Link and Zelda have counterparts?

The answer is maybe. Though Anju and the Cuccos woman from Oot and MM look the same, that doesn't mean everybody's the same. But, I predict that Link's counterpart was killed in a battle, and revived as a sage of the wind (more about that in the "Wind Waker" section). As for Zelda, she'd probably be a street urchin or something, that is a topic worth discussing. Anyway, after destroying Majora's Mask, it is said that Link stayed in Termina instead of returning to Hyrule, but that led to trouble. As the sages' power began to fade, Gannon's seal broke, freeing him. He brought havoc over Hyrule, and with no sign of Link, King Hyrule had no other choice but to use the power of the Triforce. He called upon the Goddesses to freeze time and sink Hyrule, taking Gannon down with it. But, because time is different in the two realities, Hyrule pasted several hundred of horror while it seemed only a decade to Link, whom was in Termina. Knowing nothing of the events that past, he left Termina and returned to Hyrule. In shock that the world he knew was gone, he spent the rest of his days on a small island, passing down his legend...

-3- Wind Waker

It was the birthday of Link when his sister was captured by Gannondorf and he embarked on a journey, as the Hero of Winds. Since Link I the first was proclaimed as the "Hero of Time", some would say that that this Link would be the same. That is incorrect, because it was the Triforce of Courage that gave him that title, and it was sunk under the water. But, the power of the winds gave Link the ability to recover it under the new name of "Hero of Wind". As the story progresses, Link learns that a pirate name Tetra was actually Princess Zelda. This shows that Zelda wasn't always so quiet and careree, seeing as how this pirate had the personality of a rebel.

I don't think it is any of those. I believe in the split timeline theory. It seems the most logical to me, and even more so after I saw this video.

yes MC was First beauase they didnt talk about the Triforce until OOT began and there was a spilt timeline due when zelda took adult link back home and Young Link was heading to see Zelda in the end. There was 2 link one in Hyrule A and Hyrule B.

Actually the split time line does kind of make since because if Zelda sent link back to his own time and remained in her time then there would be two separate timelines. If you have watched back to the future they talk about the split time line theory. The same basic thing is happening in OOT because when link went back in time Zelda was still left in her own time creating two separate time lines.
