Censoring The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time certainly indicates that Nintendo games will continue to change. It is also a bad thing. Censorship is never a good thing, no matter how radical and violent any groups of people claiming to be offended may be. Altering this game to appease people is as bad as censoring newspaper cartoons and South Park episodes that depict Muhammad.

I used to have the very first version, but sadly I gave it away along with my Nintendo 64 many years ago. My mistake. I didn't realize how foolish that was until a few months ago, actually. I'm glad that I still have an original release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City which has some unique items in it that later versions do not have.

I think Nintendo changed the stuff, is so they could keep it E rated so little kids would get their parents to buy it, and they would make more money that way since everyone would play it.

Hmm. I really don't see the problem. I didn't notice any of the differences until they were pointed out to me. Besides that, LoZ is supposed to be relatively family friendly so though the graphics weren't as graphic I suppose as modern day games, parents probably felt the need to have the games toned down a bit for the younger kids. I agree, that some of the changes were uncalled for, and completely unnecessary, but they didn't seem to hinder my gameplay at all.

You've got to remember that this was at a time when a lot of people still thought that games are just for kids.

It was nice to see Nintendo raise the bar a little bit with Twilight Princess. The (while still colored) more realistic blood and more of it when striking enemies such as
Spoiler

Darker story. I doubt that red stuff all over some of the gates around Hyrule Field was just paint.

Here is a part from it.
Airborne blood automatically gets you a T rating, and that's not what Nintendo wanted. If this game had a more relaxed development schedule, the public might have never seen Ganon bleed at all.

Ocarina of Time was already pushing the limits of the E rating as it was. It's worth noting that several other things in the game--like, for example, the mere action of Link smashing the sword into Ganon's face--would have resulted in a T rating had the graphics been better, according to Nintendo localization man Nate Bihldorff in a Planet Gamecube interview from 2004.

Bihldorff: ....We just recently met with the ESRB and talked about Ocarina of Time, and that had some dicey moments, whether or not it was going to get an E, you know, the original one where Ganondorf pukes out all that blood at the end, and then you end up ramming your sword down the pig's throat, you know, when he transforms, and it's not exactly non-violent, and if you imagine a scene like that with vastly improved realistic graphics, I think that'd probably be in the T range.
