They didn't mess with the formula they are simply trying to expand a franchise, and besides most all of the 3D adventure based castlevania games sucked so why would you want them to try that again.

I just noticed that the character designer for the game also illustrated Deathnote! I just saw it in nintendo power. Simon looks exactly like Light, and Maria looks exactly like Misa. Oh and for some reason, Alucard looks like Sephiroth! Haha.

I'm actually starting to get more interested in the game when they mentioned that the gameplay was kind of like power stone. (the only other fighter I like other than smash brothers.)
