Guitar Hero 3?

It's being shipped ot my place of residence...any reviews, slaps to the face, or advice?

I've got it and I really enjoy playing it, but I'm not a master by any means. It doesn't feel like a next-gen game, it's more like the PS2 version in terms of presentation. Of course if presentation was all you're after you wouldn't have a Wii. The gameplay is what grabs you in Guitar Hero games, and this one is no exception: it's a challenge on your own and a great party game with others. The song choice was a LITTLE disappointing; it's supposed to be the legends of rock, but contains no Hendrix, Queen, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin and many other presumed shoo-ins for such a game. The songs are solid though, and you most certainly won't feel hard done by on song choice. The only gripe I have is that there's no downloadable content like new songs...yet. I can't tell you about online play as I've never used it, but I'd encourage it. If you liked the other Guitar Hero games, or just want something immersing and fun, you should enjoy this game.

I've heard the harder difficulty modes are unreasonably difficult.

haha, I can visualize someone trying to play a Hendrix song on expert and passing out at the end...but I agree; I'm very excited about getting it, but there's no doubt that they played up Guns N Roses and Kiss above all.

Not really... I mean yeah, they are pretty difficult, but I could play hard mode within the week I got it, and not I can even play some expert. It really just depends on who you are for the most part, but everyone I know seems to get the hand of it fairly well.

As for the game play, I think it's great. It's highly addictive, and I still enjoy playing it occasionally, even though I've had it for ages now.

it is addicting for awhile after you get it, as mailduck said..the songs could be geared more to rock legends, and not just popular rock songs..but don't get me wrong, some of the songs on the playlist were chosen well.

but some songs on expert are ridiculously difficult.

you'll enjoy it..

Yes, the Expert songs are ludicrous, and yes, they put in KISS and GnR. I mostly play Hard, Expert's too much for me, and I've been playing guitar for 10 years; hell, I could play most of the songs on the soundtrack. But I guess it's not the same instrument. Having said that, if you can beat the game on Expert you probably have the co-ordination and patience to play guitar for real. Beating the game on Expert doesn't mean you CAN play guitar though.

Hard is awesome, up until the 7th set which is VERY hard, and by the 8th set, it is most definitely unreasonably difficult, I can't pass raining blood for the life of me. Expert mode is just as bad.

But aside from that, it is an amazingly well made and expertly crafted game that you should enjoy quite a bit

Yeah hard is fun, but it started to piss me off at the last set of songs...The middle of the song One is just insane. =P

I found it odd, but Knights Of Cydonia was easier on Hard than it was on Medium. To be honest though, I would've bought the game if the whole game was full of boy band songs just because Cliffs Of Dover is on there. Best song in the world.
