opinions on where to get/how long to wait for the wii

hey!, we've all had this common language of loving the wii, and we've been in anticipation for a very long time. Now it's time to finally get the system! So I want some opinions. I tried preordering, but I was too far back in line and was turned down. (though I preordered zelda) I have several options now I guess, and there will be people camping out and waiting a long time so beating the rush is tough. I'm wondering what's best.

For all of us who need to buy a system on launch day, this is for us.

place
*Wait at walmart and be there for a midnight opening
(next morning 19th)
*Target
*Best buy
*Circuit City
*Toys 'R' Us
*another outlet with the wii

amount of time
*camp out in front of a store saturday night
*wake up very early and arrive at store
*for walmart, wait there all day-or-several hours
*find family members to wait in shifts with you

Ok after creating this little list I think I am going to arrive at a walmart at about 12:00 noon, and wait in line untill midnight, and I might get some family to wait in shifts with me. Is this good enough judgement, do I have a garunteed system if I do this?
(respond to what I'm doing to get the wii and/or tell us what you're going to do launch day)

I've got the exact same plan of action as you, so hopefully great minds think alike.

I've heard that Sears is a good place to go that most people won't think of, and supposedly Costco is selling theirs on Saturday!

Make sure you visit your Wal Mart and talk to them. I went today, made sure nobody had started getting in line, confirmed how many systems were available, and got the name of who to talk to and where to line up on Saturday. I would be sure to do it right away, the place is extremely disorganized and nobody there seems to know anything about it. It might take you quite a while to get the information you want, which is why it'd be better to go ahead and do it early.

Good luck!

EDIT: Also read the camping guide that was linked on this forum. It has some pretty good ideas.

Also, I would definitely bring someone who could get you food or hold your spot while you go to the bathroom!

THANK YOU! That was very helpful, and yes I'm going to go tommorow to Walmart and figure out all of that information, oh and I never thought of Sears!

I suggest getting a job at a place that is selling them, I know it's a little late for that, but that's what I did, and I'm guarenteed one

I might wait for before thanksgiving, don't want to get mugged at launch just in case. After hearing what happened to the horrible launch of PS3. (shurruders because of crimes).

I had the same options as you... target, walmart, best buy those were my top three picks... sears too i guess. I was planing on walmart and I have family that might be able to wait shifts for me.

by the way... does walmart.com actually have some in stock now? like will it really arrive the 20th or soon after? i know it's a forced bundle but if they have them and they would arrive that soon that would be awesome. I was under the impression that they had already done as many preorders as possible but they are selling more now

My plan is awesome I am going to target 3 hours before and they open at 8. They will have about 110 of them and are giving out numbers as you are in line to make sure you get one. Also use this site Wiiseeker - Find a Nintendo Wii Near Home to find out how many Wii's will be in your store.
