That's what they said about Cookie Monster. Claims were made that he was always conveyed as eating cookies alone and that soon the children will do the same, resulting in a more obese generation. There was such talk for a little while that I heard about the idea of completely dropping Cookie Monster because of this. Well the way I see it; My generation grew up with Sesame Street (including Cookie Monster eating cookies 24/7) and last time I checked, we aren't the obese, now older, children that these allegations assumed us to become growing up with this 'negative influence' of a Cookie Monster. So I guess that deems those claims about Cookie Monster making children obese false, imo. There's no doubt that children's TV shows don't hold a major influence in their young lives, but you can't blame a television show for the parents' lack of skill in controlling their child's diet. But the wall crayon drawing is completely understandable; it's a "monkey see, monkey do" kind of thing. I used to draw on walls :).
