Was he i-talian? I vaguely remember him being an italian man. See what happens when you block out your high school years. You block out some knowledge along with it.

The guy who first discovered the potential of radio waves for telecommunications was Gugliermo Marconi (sp), but I don't know what year it was. No idea who invented the first radio in the modern sense, I suppose it could've been Edison? I don't know what the trick in the question is, but I know I've got it wrong.
