| | | Martial Arts Tell us about any martial arts that you practice or have an interest in. I'm studying Tai Chi, and I know quite a bit about Ninjutsu, would love to learn it.

| | | I did ninjutsu for about 5 or 6 years, it was awesome. But that changed when I went to uni since, well, the two places are like 2 hours apart (by train & bus).
I'd do it again if I had the chance, but alas, the only place I can do that around here is... quite far. I'm far too lazy for that. |

| | | Sucky. Did you learn the hand-to-hand side or did you do the weapons and stealth as well?

| | | Mostly hand to hand because, let's face it, that's what you encounter most. But sometimes our sensei had this 'fits' in which we would only focus on one thing (for example, with a rapist in the news or he learned some new discipline in Russia (true story)), sometimes including weapony stuff. We had a one and a half meter long stick we used as either katana, European sword or... stick. |

| | | I am fairly well into learning Krav Maga. It's like survival fighting and learning to handle really tough situations, i.e three man have a hostage and there's a fourth man bearing down on you with a knife and you need to rescue the hostage. Fun times.

| | | Tai Chi and Kempo. I would eventually like to learn Eagle Claw.
Eagle Claw owns all.
BTW, is Ninjutsu a practical style or more of a tournament/performance style? What I loved about Kempo is that the instructors not only showed you the techniques and Katas, but also how to actually use it in a real life situation. Most people I know who practiced Ninjutsu did so while going through a 'fascination with ninjas' phase or while they were under the influence of Narutarditus. |

| | | Well, (almost) all we learned was practical, more or less. We had some hostage stuff too, or being a bodyguard, some katana stuff as I said (talk about something you don't need every day),...
Mostly it was reflex training, how to handle kicks and punches (counterattacks, dodging as well as just receiving), many, many different locks... Really one more of those martial arts that teach you how to use someone else's strength/weight against him. |
