| | | Crazy (but important) question Can you protect ideas for things already owned by a company? Like if you want to sell a company an idea based on their game, t.v. show, etc. I've noticed that people have an idea for something a company could do, and make some money off the idea. But the company sells it and gets the credit. BUT; how would you do that? Is their some kind of confidentiality agreement or something you can work up, so the company can't do to you what calvin klien did to Cosmo Kramer, lol? And so other people can't take your idea too? I mean; obviously you can't use the companies character or name in a copywrite, but is there some way to be a part of a project like that and make some money off your idea?
Like, for example (I'm stumped on an apt enough example, lol, but I'll try); you want to........ well okay; maybe you wanted to make a L.O.Z. game, like to produce the fake-o game that jerk website was lying about recently. Can you protect the story somehow? Obviously if they aren't interested; game over. But if they are; they can't rob you of the idea. I hope they never make that gross game though,

| | | You copyright the story. Just change the characters in your story from theirs to others so that you are not infringing on their copyright. Then you offer to let them modify your story to fit their game. My suggest would be to offer modify it yourself because you would probably get paid more money that way.

| | | I'm not so sure the likes of Nintendo would accept an outside storyline for one of their biggest series. I mean, they're pretty big. |

| | | Nintendo has said that they simply do not accept ideas for games from fans. My guess would be to avoid any copyright infringement liability. That being said, I seriously doubt every one of their games was purely their idea. I'm sure they were talking to someone in a coffee shop or a park bench somewhere and the person got to saying "Ya know what'd be cool? What if there was a game about..." for at least some of their games. I can't help but feel there is some allusion to the Sword in the Stone in Zelda games, but I just can't put my finger on it... | | The Following User Says Thank You to BlackZero For This Useful Post: | |

And yes, that does seem a little similar to a concept that I've previously heard about before from somewhere... |

| | | I was trying hard to be secretive about my idea, because you're all an industrious lot, and would probably pirate it away from me, ya scurvy blokes. And more power to ya cutthroats. But F it; I don't care. I'll prolly never be able to do anything with my idea anyways. But it's nice to tell your friends your thoughts, and you can both dream all starry eyed about it together.
So anyways; here it is (or was, lol): I was thinking about the awesome power of flash drives, and how hard disks are crap. And about how much space the average IPod has these days. And I thought ''hey; they could put every nintendo game from NES to N64 onto a device the size of a big IPod, and call it something like Ultra Nintendo or Mega Nintendo''. But what I wanted to do specifically was to make a device look like a triforce, and that would be both the system ''and'' the recharging dock for the wireless controller that's specifically made for the Zelda series. All the Zelda games in one little gizmo. Plug it into the wall and into your t.v.; then play whichever game you want. And they could release a new game along with it (inside of it).
Every nintendo game from NES to Wii might take up too much space (I really don't know); but just a Zelda one could have every Zelda game to date, and a new one (I'm sure). And a controller designed to work to all of the games strengths would be sweet. If I could have made the project happen; I would have made it a box set packaged in a golden chest (dungeon boss key style), with a few cool zelda related things inside. It may have cost 150 to 200 bucks, but you'd pay that for a metallica box set or something. I'd of put a kokiri shield in the chest too, lol, to hang on your wall. The chest would be big. Like two feet by one foot, and one and a half deep. Not exactly realistic to scale, but big nevertheless.
People might say ''that's to big for a walmart shelf, but I disagree. Those stupid plastic wwe kids belts come in a huge honkin crate of a cardboard box, this wouldn't be so much bigger.
I'd just love to see this happen, even if I didn't get money or credit. I'd love to own it. So if you guys can figure out how to make it happen; by all means do it. But give me a million out of your billion 'cause ya know it's right, lol.

| | | And I would have ''remade'' all of the games. Not remade, but updated graphics and stuff. And I'd organize a mass bonfire of those gamecube masterquest disks out of spite. New buttons but not graphics my a$$! LOL.
And in the new game; NO TINGLE! lol. That sounds like a pervy German thing to say ''yaa no tingle, justuh squeaky squeaky '', LOL!!!

| | | So resident evil 1 was pointless to remake? I personally loved it. Oh well; que sera sera. Plus; define pure. Easy to see and understand? Blocky and ugly? This brings up a whole new topic. What is purity in gaming?
Regardless of that though; with or without the remaking idea; what do you think of the idea? Of a small plug and play style device (but with a wireless contoller of course)? That was the point of the topic.
Back to the new point though (since this thread is kind of stangnating anyway); if you have an old story; and you update the look so it's pretty; but the story is still the same. Isn't that pure? Keeping the heart? Adding things that don't hurt that heart can help too. Those masterquests weren't pure; they had new dungeons.
And I hope I'm not misinterpreting your qoute either ('cause that happens sometimes, lol). Anyhow; this wasn't a firey reply. I'm pretty bored and whatnot and just rambling. So for the no0b spamfreaks out there; don't go all nutty because I said all this. Take it to the debate section. Label it with some kooky title about purity that ''doesn't'' make you sound like a nazi....... LOL!!! Peace.

| | | I didn't say that you shouldn't remake games. I'm saying older games are more fondly remembered the way they were. | | The Following User Says Thank You to HylianHitman For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
