I'd do the backpack thing. Australia ain't too big, lol, and there was no time limit specified. So I'd take a year off school and take a stroll for a few thousand kilometres.

Thing is, if you get a good backpack it'll distribute the load of the weight and it makes it much easier. I remember I had an alright backpack when I went camping, and I was carrying 20KG and it felt like nothing whilst hiking.

Anyone who chooses option 2 is clearly insane. Do you have ANY idea how many games you would miss in that amount of time?

I've already missed a lot of games due partly to the fact that I wasn't born.
