leet, comp nerd preteens and teenagers who think they are cooler than everyone else made up a language that glorifies misspellings and incorrect grammar to make themselves feel even more superior to everyone. its influx has been felt all around the internet and is spreading into everyday life. its really an epidemic.

and the term owned came from gaming. to get ones ass handed to oneself is to get owned by another player. basically that player is so superior that they can do what they want with the other one. it does not harken back to slavery.

What would you call owning someone? lol. But you're right, it's really just nerds, and nerds sayings never really last too long anyway, hahaha. What was that word the gal on mean girls was trying to make a word but her friend wouldn't let her? On scrubs; they always come up with new words to tick off J.D. Ha...ha...ha. That's his arrogant laugh, lol.

It is a typo turned jargon. The p is right next to the o key and is often hit on accident during gameplay when time cannot be devoted to proper gameplay. So people meaning to say own or owned, would often accidentally say pwned, and eventually deliberately say pwned.
