We're learning about Spartans, Persians etc in Ancient History, and our teacher keeps mentioning this moving "300" coming out, which is about the time when 300 (well 298, because two ran away) Spartans fought against a "million" (according to Herodotus, this is obviously an exaggeration made to entertain) Persians and held them off for I think 7 days (they did lose in the end).

Anyways, I just checked a trailer for it and it does look suprisingly good, I doubt it's very true (although there was some quotes from Herodotus in there, so at least some research was done!) but I'm going to see in nevertheless.

I bet they used the old Advance Wars trick of setting up camp on a little island with one bridge and blocked it up with mechs or something. Spartans had mechs, right? If not, what was my Ancient History teacher thinking?

Yeah, I saw the trailer and it looks really good. But I like those kind of movies based on ancient Greece and Rome.

I just like Sparta

300 is essentially the ORIGANEL Alamo. The enemies won but the heros fought so valiantly they made it worth while. In said Battle of Thermopylae the Spartans defended a pass so valiently they killed many times their own number of enemies and even though they all died it annoyed the opposing commander SO BADLY after losing that many troops he found the leader's body, cut off his head, and crucified his corpse. Which was odd cause usually Persians treat fallen enemies with honour.

Yeah basically even tho the 300 lost, they pwned the enormous amounts of persians they faced. the Persians won, but they pretty much drug their butts back home in shame.

I think 300 is gonna be a great adaptation of the novel by Frank Miller. It may not be the best movie of all time, and it may kinda suck, but the artistic movement and uniqueness will be what pulls in the movie goers for the weekend. I'm gonna go see it for four reasons:

1) I think the movie looks great, tho the plot may be lacking in the end,
2) The battle sequences are gonna be incredible,
3) It is being created by the same CGI company that is doing the TMNT movie that is coming out two weeks after 300 and TMNT is gonna rock hard, cowabunga!,
4) Any move with the quote:

"Our arrows will blot out the sun."
-"Then we will fight in the shade"

is worth watching.
