| | | Signature and Avatar Setup Tutorial Here's my "Signature and Avatar Setup Tutorial" tutorial. I figure if this place is going to become the resource for all things Twilight Princess, we will be attracting a lot of new people that aren't used to vBulletin, or forums at all. We'll also be getting quite a lot of younger members. I know some of us are used to vBulletin or just have a general gift of figuring things out straight away, but some people don't, and while some people can rely on "Go here here and here, done!", some people prefer more of a visual style of teaching, and so I've tried my best to incorporate this style by providing screenshots, and I'm going to go through this tutorial in a step by step program. I've also tried to make it simple to run through for our younger users. In just three easy steps you will have your Avatar and Signature up and running in NO time, just like the rest of us During this tutorial, you may see certain words tagged with a small red number. If you get stuck, you can check the helpful screenshot and the place which I am telling you to go will also have the same number in the tutorial (i.e. if I say "Go to the browse button2", on the screenshot it will have a 2 next to the browse button).
Anyway, on with the tutorial, eh? Pre-Tutorial Note: While it is not mandatory, it is extremely helpful to have your signature, and the link to your avatar of choice before you read this, however, it is up to you :) If you have any troubles on how to actually make an image or a link or anything like that, there will be some help on that after this tutorial. Additionally, I will be using the default skin for this tutorial. Step 1 - Lets get to your Profile! Helpful Screenshot On the Front Page of the Twilight Princess Forums, go to the very top. As you may of noticed, there are multiple links all in a line(below your avatar/search box). These Buttons are(in Left to Right Order):User CP, Forum Rules, FAQ, Members List, Calendar, vbPlaza Menu, Arcade, New Posts, Search, Quick Links and Log Out(this is if you're logged in; this links bar may vary if not logged in). Click on the button that says User CP, and continue onto Step 2. If you are confused by this, please click on the Helpful Screenshot link, it shows you where the Profile button is. It is circled in red. Step 2 – Setting up your Signature! Helpful Screenshot 1 Helpful Screenshot 2 Roughly at the top, to the far left, there's a small menu with several links, Signature, Email and Password, Profile etc etc. Please click on the one that says Signature and carry on. If you are unsure where this is, please check the first Helpful Screenshot. Now you are taken to a textbox where you can put in your signature. If you do not know how to put in images or links, as I stated earlier, please check the bottom of this tutorial. Click Preview Signature1 to see if it works, and if it does or you’re confident enough not to check, Click Save Signature2 to save your signature. If you are unsure where either of these buttons are, please check Helpful Screenshot 2. Step 3 – Time to put in your avatar! Helpful Screenshot 1 Helpful Screenshot 2 Ok as you might see, we’re back where we were at Step 2. Now where we clicked Signature, look a tad lower and you’ll see a Link that says Avatar. Click on it, and carry on. If you are unsure where this is, please check the first Helpful Screenshot. You are taken to a page where you can either select a pre-made avatar1, enter in a url link to an avatar2, or take one from your computer3. If you would like to use a pre-made avatar, select the avatar of your choice by clicking the radio button1 under it, and press Save Changes4. If you want to use a custom avatar, please click on the browse button3 and find your avatar. Alternatively, if you have a link to the avatar of your choice online, please put that in the text box under Enter Avatar URL2. As always, if you’re stuck and don’t know where to click, please check Helpful Screenshot 2. Finally, click on Save Changes4 and you are DONE! Congrats! You finally have a signature and avatar like the rest of us BB Code Help Note: If you have a problem with seeing the text in the code boxes, go to View -> Text Size, and click on increase (if you're on Firefox), or Largest (if you're on Internet Explorer). If you're on Opera, go to View -> Zoom and then click on 120% or 150% To put an image in: Insert this code right here :) Code: [img]***this is where the link to your pic goes***[/img] To put a Link in: Insert this code right here (minus the space) :) Wanna be a saucy beast and make an Image link to something? Use this code :) It combines both How to make bold, underlined, stroke-through and italic text To make text bold, use the tag, like this (minus the space). Code: [ b]OMG! My text is in bold![/b] ---------------------
To make text underlined, use the tag, like this (minus the space). Code: [ u]OMG! My text is underlined![/u] ----------------------
To make text italic, use the tag, like this (minus the space). Code: [ i]OMG! My text is italic![/i] Want your colours to have a different colour? | | New thread button is on the upper left hand side above the list of threads.
For the pics at the bottom of your posts (signatures, or "sigs"), you need to have an image and have it uploaded somewhere. Then under the user CP (top of the page) go to edit signature. Then put Quote: |
[IMG]url of image here[/IMG]
| If you don't have an image you want to use, I can make you one with your name in it, etc. let me know.
