Not the first Zelda game I owned, but definitely the first game that I was able to play through on my own. I've got almost every step memorized, and although I haven't gotten it down to a few hours yet, I've gotten it down to less than a day.

I haven't played the GBA version, though...is it exactly like the SNES version, or is it slightly different?

the first game to impliment different colored tunics was the first one, link started out green turned white and blue and then ended up red......speaking of the first one, has anyone played it when it came out in like 87? i was only 3 but i made sure to fall in love with it. i guess it's not the best baby sitter out there but still i'm suprised at the amount of people that didn't play it before oot came out.

I actually played OoT, then MM and then WW before looking into emulated versions of LttP, LoZ and AoL. It was a good history lesson though, and LttP is a great game in its own right.

It is almost exactly the same as the SNES version but there are some differences. The Main difference is the main screen where you chose the name of your character is completely different. The entering your name screen is also different. There are some minor differences with a few things in the actual game itself. But not anything to really be too concerned about.
