Hello everyone,

My name is Ariel Bitran. I'm a songwriter in NYC. Over the past year, I played Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for my first time and was incredibly inspired by the whole story. As a result, I wrote a song cycle (or am currently in the process of writing--about halfway through) based on the game.

The songs are not entirely accurate in terms of gameplay, but I try to maintain the personal, funny, and exciting spirit of the game, while referencing some important stuff (like aromatic mushrooms). Anyway, I've posted a bunch of tracks from my most recent show at the Sidewalk Cafe here in New York.

Hope you enjoy it. If you want to hear more, there's a "studio" version of "Song of the Windfish" on my facebook page. The "Song of the Windfish" itself is loosely based on the actual one from the game.

Hey Ariel. I hope you drop to the Zelda area and share more of your experiences with Links Awakening.

I hope this doesn't sound much rude though, but when people come straight annoucing something external to the site,whether is in or out of their intro thread, as their main focus of the post. I get the impression people join'ed only to spread their hits. But you seem really nice and I am hope I am wrong this time.

Anyway, I checked your place, I was not expecting this style of music for LA, specially them all having lyrics, it is nice, hahah.

Kaynil, thats not rude at all. As a forum moderator myself on another forum, I know how crappy it can be to have someone just throwing mud on their forums. I am not a bot. I came here to share both my love for Link's Awakening and hopefully share my joy through the songs that I've been writing.

I'm always looking for feedback, and as the song writing process for the game still isn't done yet, I may just be turning to the forums for help and advice and other insights.

I'm pretty sure I was honest. I'm not just here to promote. but thanks for the attack. if ya can't tell. I'M A BOT. BOT BOT BOT.

Excited that I finally got a live recording of these songs, I wanted to share it with people who I thought would be interested. Its not about me. its about the music. most importantly, its about the game.

but am I promoting myself? you bet I am. but instead of being received with hostility, I hoped to receive some sort of acceptance, which I have from many members. I can understand how it can be off-putting for someone to come on here and say, "listen to my music. bye." but I am a real person, and I am a lover of the game. I have devoted so much of my time to these songs and performing them, that I felt like if anyone could appreciate it, it would be the people on the forums.

This thread originally started in the "Zelda Games" category, because I thought it held the most validity in that category. While moving it to the "New Users" forum may have I applied since it was my first post, it was not my intention to introduce myself in such a 'commercial' way.

I guess if you had introduced before created this thread we wouldn't had mistaken this as your introduction post, many of us missed that it started elsewhere.

Allow me to introduce myself to you. I am one of the moderators here. We are fairly protective of the community here and tend to be suspicious of people who come on here and start right off in their first post promoting themselves or another site. I was actually the first to become suspicious of your thread and to question your intentions. Some people sign up, and immediately create a post that says something like, "for cool Zelda stuff, click here..." And, they often never return. If you had not made the effort to actually introduce yourself, I might have deleted the thread entirely, or at least closed it and deleted the links. However, I asked for opinions of others, and Rollo, who is an administrator here, felt that your thread was acceptable, as myspace and facebook are not outright commercial sites. Since you did introduce yourself in the post, he moved it here, to the introduction sub-forum, which is also where I would have put it. I hope that explains some things for you. In addition, I have dropped my suspicion of you and I really do hope that you enjoy the site, and I hope that we can all enjoy your music.

EDIT: Oh, and you can call me Reel, everybody does.
