| | | My Point of View Hey guys, I know that the whole timeline of Hyrule is pretty highly debated, but I started this new blog in an attempts to play through all the games in order (opinion) and talk about them. So I'm just gonna post some of my entries here and then you can check out the rest if you want. To let everyone know, I'm starting with Minish Cap:
*Game #1*
-The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.
So I just started this game yesterday and I'll give the rundown on the Intro...
"A long, long time ago...When the world was on the verge of being swallowed by shadow...the tiny Picori appeared form the sky, bringing the hero of men a sword and a golden light. With wisdom and courage, the hero drove out the darkness. When peace had been restored, the people enshrined that blade with care."
For me, this intro solidifies this game as the first in the series. I think one of the points to note is that "Link" is referred to as the "Hero of Men" instead of the "Hero of time." This means that this story happened before most of the time-traveling stuff. Since Miyamoto said that Ocarina of Time was the first in the series (before Minish Cap or Four Swords came out), this means that this game would have to come before. Also, there is a mention of the "Picori Sword", yet, no mention of the Master Sword at all. Finally, In the intro as well as all the parts of the game I have played, There is a mention of the "Golden Light Force," which I think is what later Hyrulians call the "Triforce."
Now on to the actual game. When I started playing the game I was immediately sucked back into my love for Zelda games. The music, colors, and gameplay fit right into the classic Zelda motif. The story takes a different turn than most games in the series because in it, Link and Zelda are childhood friends. Although they are friends, Zelda is still the princess of Hyrule.
So the game follows the a pretty standard style of play as most Zelda games. Before I even blinked, Zelda was turned into a statue. It wouldn't be a Zelda game if Link wasn't at some point trying to rescue her. Apparently, the sorcerer Vaati used his magic to turn Zelda into a statue in an attempt to release the chest that the Picori sword was held in. Naturally, there is some crazy thing in there that will help him rule the world. This is also at the same time a very important question is answered. It wasn't just a coincidence that all the incarnations of Zelda were mad good with magic. The Picori actually infused the bloodline with magic. Classic.
So Link gets sent on a classic quest where he needs to repair the sword...to break the curse on Zelda. This is when stuff starts to get real! So we soon find out that that the Picori are actually a miniature race of people who call themselves the Minish. The main problem is that they are...you guessed it...really freaking tiny. So in a textbook example of video game logistics, Link stumbles upon this talking hat that has the ability to shrink him at certain spots. So Link puts on the hat, shrinks down, eats a nut that lets him speak Minish (not joking), and starts to get a little more of what's going on. So the Minish will repair the sword but its not gonna be easy. Link has to go collect four elements (of course he has to) and then infuse them into the sword. So I went to the forest and got the "wood" element...then hopped up the mountain and got the "fire" element. Both awesome dungeons. I got stuck a few times but overall it had been good so far. Good dungeons, some interesting new weapons (the gust jar---apparently it just sucks air in and shoots it out lol). Now I went over to the classic swamp section of the game and got the "Bow"
I'll get my SP recharged soon and start playing again. Until then...peace out.

| | | I disagree. I don't think TMC is the first game. I think it comes sometime after TWW and PH.
There's lots of evidence supporting this. The Hyrule in TMC is an island, for one thing, which means it's surrounded by water. This could mean that it's the land made by the Koroks, or what I believe, the land Link and Tetra found. It also does not have any similarities to the old Hyrule whatsoever, so it's safe to assume it's not the same one. You can see islands that resemble TWW islands from the wind dungeon in the sky (I forget what it's called). The most supporting evidence is the mentioning of Triumph Forks in this game, which were also mentioned by Fishman in TWW. It could be just a cameo, but I consider it evidence for now.
I believe the timeline is split and goes like this.
/ MM - TP
OoT
\ TWW - PH - TMC- FS/FSA - ALttP - LA - OoS/OoA - LoZ - AoL |

| | | I believe Nintendo should stop making Zelda games until they sort out their own bloody timeline. |

| | | Apparently Miyamoto or one of those guys has a timeline on his computer, so they can make the games without messing up, but they won't tell anyone what it is. At least Konami had the grace of releasing an official timeline for Castlevania, or I'd be the next Son of Sam.

| | | No, you're all wrong! Obviously Link is an ancestral shrine who has come to life to claim the gold of the Spanish, and then fight in the War of 1812 during operation Iraqi Freedom, where the Vietnamese invaded Poland. |

as you can see its a single timeline | You know I'd never believe you every time you argue the single-timeline theory if it weren't for your solid, well-presented evidence.

I don't care much about the timeline. I just like playing the games.

The timeline is too complicated to really understand and it does not matter. Although it is still a good intellectual exercise.
