| | | Truely Great In your opinion what makes a game truely great? By that I mean what do you like in your games? Do you like it when the hero dies or do you prefer that he always stand truimphant? Do you prefer to see lots of cut-scenes or just a few very good short movies? etc...

| | | A good story, good graphics, good gameplay. These are the things i think that are needed to make a game great!
I hate when the hero dies... :( its sad. Well, i think a moderate amount of videos is fine, its kind of a nice break in the game.

| | | Apparently, a hero never dies. That would seriously disrupt their continuity. |

| | | Graphics are nice, but they're not everything. I constantly see games with amazing graphics that I don't think I'd enjoy at all (such as most of the games for the XBox 360). In contrast, I play lots of games with shotty graphics by today's standards that are among my favorites, such as OoT and Breath of Fire 3. | | The Following User Says Thank You to Black_Mage For This Useful Post: | |

| | | I'm tired of that stigma.
"Just because a game has good graphics doesn't mean it has good gameplay." I've heard this so many times it pisses me off. Maybe you should play the game first to judge its quality instead of dismissing it based on a ****ty argument that is an appeal to ignorance used by fanatics whose judgments are hopelessly biased.
You can view how a game looks through screenshots and videos before playing it.
You cannot, however, experience what its gameplay is like unless you've played it yourself or maybe you have some earlier games in its series, if applicable.
Even worse is assuming that because it has amazing graphics, then it must focus on that and nothing alone! I cannot even express my dismay at how pathetically pretentious that is.
I'm done now.
For me, it would have to be sound and action. If a game is too quiet or has little to no music, or the music is of sub-par quality, or if the sound is too bright and Mr lucky-sunshine-flowers-sparkles, then I'm turned off by it. Also, it must be action-oriented... could be racing, shooting, even a platformer if done correctly, as long as its mature enough so as not to appeal to kids, then it's fine for me. As you can probably tell, the God of War games are some of the best I've ever experienced. Metroid Prime 3 is also awesome.
