My Game: Bucket Ball (Yay!)

Come one, come all! This is Bucket Ball. "What's Bucket Ball?" you ask. Well, it's a little Atari 2600-esque PC game that's been brewing in my head for quite some time. But it wasn't until the Atari thread was made in this forum that I actually got the inspiration to star working on it. Four days later, and this is what you get. So...go ahead and give it a spin. Just download it, and then double click the .exe file to open it (sorry Mac users, it will only run in Windows). Once you're done with that, come back here and tell me what you think of it!

Controls:
Move Bucket: Left and right arrow keys
Pause: Space Bar

And...some screen shots:

ENJOY!

Not bad! pretty addictive. I have yet to finish the game I've made... seems to be the hardest part for me.

Glad you liked it Digirob. So...what kind of game did you make? What language/tool did you use? As I'm sure anyone familiar with the program can tell, I used Game Maker to make this game. I do know C and BASIC quite well, but building games with them is unnecessarily difficult. Of course, when you choose a program like GM, you have to sacrifice speed for ease of use, but that hardly comes into effect when making 2600-type games.

So to get to my point (finally, right?), if it's written in GM, I'd be happy to help you out, or even work on a new project together (I enjoy programming in a team, it flows better that way).

I've only used visual basic because of computer science, but I've tried making a clone of guitar hero/frets on fire. I got most of the code working, the only thing is that programming the songs is a hassle.

Ah yes, visual basic. I've used DarkBASIC in the past. It's specially built to deal with game creation. To me GM=2D games and DarkBASIC=3D.

As for the game, my suggestion is to create some kind of real time song editor, so you can perform the inputs while the song plays. That would probably be a lot of work, but just think about the hundreds of songs you (and other people) could make. BTW, you do know about Stepmania right?

And why is no one else playing my game? I worked hard on this people!
