| | | American Presidential Elections Well I figured I might as well make this thread, as most of you know the American presidential elections will be held this November(?) which politically is a very important event, note this thread will not be for spamming or flaming on one another's opinions but to talk and share what they think. Personally if I could vote I would go with Ron Paul since he actually promises change unlike Hilary or Obama who are just puppets letting all there sponsors and backing do all the work, and McCain would just be a repeat of the last 8 years and we all know how good(sarcasm) that went. Then again we still dont even know who will really be running in the end. What do you think on the matter?

But if I was an American citizen, I'd vote Obama over McCain or Clinton, he seems pretty well unstoppable. How would you feel about Clinton running for Vice President? Would that make you more or less likely to vote Democrat?

| | | Clinton has done a lot of damage to the Democratic party by refusing to give up. I don't mean to be ugly, but it has already been mathematically shown that she will not get the majority of delegates by more than a few experts. By continuing, she is only encouraging further division of the party. The only problem I have with her is that she is over playing her 'victimized poor little girl in a big mean man's world' card. Sure, she's tough and independent when everything is working out. But when things go wrong, she plays that card for sympathy votes. She is also pushing for the votes in Michigan and Florida to be counted, despite the fact that they weren't actually elections: her name was the only one on the ballots. She keeps claiming that it's fair, which leads me to question what her concept of 'fair' is.
Of the democrats, Obama is better. First, he has promised change (what kind, I don't know). Second, he has tried to run as civil a campaign as Billary will allow. He has dealt with the bad publicity of 'being a Muslim' and his religious leader; yet still remains in the lead. If I vote, it will probably be for him; but I am thinking of abstaining.
McCain = another few years of Gee Dubya
If Billary became Vice President, I don't think Obama would get anything done that he wanted to: it would all be her agenda. Seeing that she would be president of the Senate, she would be calling all the shots. All Obama would be able to do is sign, veto, or pocket veto only to be overturned if Billary wanted to. |

The President is not the most powerful man on the planet. That information is inaccurate. There is a thorough system of checks and balances in the entire American government system to ensure that none of the 3 branches (Legislative is Congress, Executive is the President, and Judicial is the Supreme Court) get out of hand. The President does have plenty of power, but it isn't a dictatorship. He (or possibly she in the future) cannot simply do everything he/she pleases at a whim with no consequences.
Secondly, if the President was the most powerful person on earth, then that would create chaos in foreign affairs. |

| | | Haha, good one, HH. Anyway, I thought Ron Paul gave up a long time ago. I don't really pay much attention to it all. And I don't necessarily think that Clinton is doing damage to the democratic party. The whole process is flawed. I live in Florida, and the votes of Florida residents will not be counted because the state decided to have their primary before they were supposed to have it.
Besides, I vote for an entirely different kind of government.

Of course, it would probably take nothing less than divine intervention for our system to change, but it's still interesting to see what other types America could do. |
