Kerrigors Big Mistake.
Stephen was orphaned at the age of 12. His father was killed by a thug that liked to swing his katana blade around. This is ancient Japan, and Stephen and his dad are the only outsiders, shipwrecked by an awful mistake with an experimental floating device.
Instead of being orphaned, Stephens soon-to-be Sensei took him in, for he saw great fierceness in his eyes. Stephen was ruthless, but apart from that he was strong and determined. His Sensei saw that in him and decided to teach him the honourable skill of assassination, Ninjitsu.
There was also an evil man, almost too evil to be human, Kerrigor. In Senseis youth, he used to beat back Kerrigor again and again. In his old age Sensei was now getting slower, and Kerrigor faster. Kerrigor had built up a private army; the leader was a fiercesome Samurai warrior. Kerrigor had not attacked for a long time. It was only a matter of time&
FOUR YEARS AFTER STEPHEN'S FATHER DIED
Stephen! That is all wrong; you must use your hands more and your blades less.
Sensei, you confuse me, I hold my blade in my hand& how can-
Have you not listened? Your hand movements guide your blade, there's a difference!
Yes, Sensei.
The conversation was over. Stephen had made a mistake again.
Come on Sensei. One more try!
No.
Have you ever been young?
Sensei sighed, and Stephen said no more.
Now Stephen, it is late we should-
Sensei never had time to finish; his keen ear had heard a stealthy noise.
Stephen, get me my katana.
Stephen said nothing and raced to grab the weapon from its cabinet and took his own out again.
Heard me did you? came a rasping evil voice, oh well& Flinders kill the sensei, he said in an oily mock tone. The Samurai Flinders drew his katana and sliced Senseis head off before he could react. His head fell off and blood oozed from the spot. He was getting old and weak, sneered Kerrigor.
Rage filled Stephen, and he lunged at Kerrigor. The general Flinders was too fast and blew him back. Now, now, he said, we dont want an accident. He punched Stephen, and he knew no more.
Stephen awoke next to the dead body of his sensei, and wept for what seemed hours. He then picked up the head and said: I will preserve your honour& I will avenge you!
That day, Kerrigor moved silently towards his mansion, pleased with killing the Sensei menace. I have nobody to stand in my way, thought Kerrigor, pleased. And the pathetic little Stephen does not change a thing. You need to change your nappy, little shrimp! he had joked, and he hardly ever joked.
Meanwhile, after burning his senseis body, Stephen took some supplies and his senseis katana blade. His senseis katana was strangely light, and had pictures in gold written around it. Suddenly, a thought came into his mind. Sensei had told Stephen this wisdom in the past:
Follow the path of death and Kerrigor will find you.
Sensei was wise and surrounded by mystery, he would know where to go. And so would Stephen. Following ruined houses, Stephen would find Kerrigor and kill him. Stephen wandered for months until in one town he spotted a scout from Kerrigors army. Kerrigor was close, so close Stephen could almost see himself stabbing Kerrigor in the heart. He expertly snuck up on the scout and placed the knife to the scouts throat.
Where is Kerrigor? he whispered in the scouts ear.
He is only three miles from here, follow the sun! cried the scout. Thanks, said Stephen, and he slit the mans throat.
Stephen followed the sun for about a week before pulling up at a distance. The armys camp, and then Kerrigors mansion loomed on the horizon. There was no way up there without going through the camp. Damn it! exclaimed Stephen. He jumped out of the bushes and sprinted all the way through the camp. Everyone who looked thought he was a messenger or the scout Stephen had killed. General Flinders came out just before he reached the huge house.
What are you! he roared but Stephen lunged on his chest, and slashed at him. Flinders fell to the ground dead. Nobody attacked because they were afraid of the enraged Stephen before them.
The doors fell open and Kerrigor came out.
Ah Stephen, what a nasty surprise, said Kerrigor in a mock tone. Flinders had outlived his usefulness any way.
The next thing Stephen knew, he was fighting Kerrigor.
Your father was weak, he mocked.
Even the words were weak, but they enraged Stephen.
The words made him stronger, and he slashed at Kerrigors neck and decapitated him.
I have avenged you Sensei, said Stephen on the journey home.
